Take a paper and a pen, and try to write all of your income and all of your expenses. Make your own checklist! See how much money you have at the end of the month. Not much? Are you spending more than you have? Do you eat canned food in the last 10 days of the month? Write all of your expenses down and see where you are weakest in terms of spending.

Write down your expenses and your monthly income, and compare.
Tip 2: Restrain yourself
If you have the habit of overspending, it is time to reevaluate your life choices. Are you spending too much money on clothes? And if your answer is positive – ask yourself why. There are many more exciting and fun activities for less money. Also, try to cook your own meals. That way you will learn about a crucial skill in life – cooking. Also, it is far less expensive when you are making your own food, versus buying fast food.
Tip 3: If you have to move – move
If you are living in an apartment that takes away a good portion of your monthly income, you should consider moving to a different apartment. Homes with their taxes can be such a money hole, and apartments in a certain location can be much more expensive than those that are in some other location. And the distance from the college is not a crucial factor for the prices of apartments. Strange are the ways of economy, and sometimes better apartments can be much cheaper.
Tip 4: Try to find a roommate
Having to pay for everything on your own can be overwhelming. Rent can be high, and bills even higher. So, if you are struggling with money, maybe it is time to find a roommate, There are many websites for that, or you can ask your friends to move in with you.
